.... CONTINUED FROM HOMEPAGE
The incumbent congressman in the 16th District, Joe Pitts was reelected. This came as a surprise to no one since both factions of the Corporate Party in Harrisburg have gerrymandered the 16th District in such a way that Republicans outnumber Democrats 2 to 1. A Democrat can never win in the 16th District any more than a Republican can win in the 14th where Democrats so outnumber Republicans that the Republican Party doesn't even bother to run a candidate anymore. This is a critical point to keep in mind as we approach the 2008 elections: a Democrat cannot possibly win in the 16th District. The Democrat Party has nevertheless once again decided to run a candidate in the 16th Congressional District. Go figure. I suspect that it made this decision so that no one, other than a Corporate Candidate, has a chance at election.
I am running again in 2008. I have already earned the endorsement of the Chester County Green Party and the nomination of the Green Party of Pennsylvania. Once again I hope to have the endorsement of county level Libertarian Parties, the Reform Party of Pennsylvania and The New American Independent Party of Pennsylvania; the left, right and center of the political spectrum.
I also expect to be endorsed by CUIP, the Committee for a Unified Independent Party. Once again I hope to be endorsed by some of the most prominent people in the nation such as Noam Chomsky, Ralph Nader and Howard Zinn. My campaign committee expects to have 10 times the number of volunteers we had in 2006 and to raise at least 10 times the money that we raised in 2006. We will, unlike the Democrat and Republican factions of the Corporate Party, take absolutely no money from corporations or special interests. (One of the local newspapers in 2006 suggested that one Corporate Candidate was less corrupt than the other because she took less money from the special interests. I suggest that you cannot be a little bit pregnant, a little bit dead or a little bit corrupt.)
I am the only candidate who demands the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of our troops, "contractors" (mercenaries from corporations like Blackwater) from Iraq and Afghanistan; along with the withdrawal of all US corporate interests and employees from those countries. I am the only candidate demanding the immediate repeal of the USA Patriot Act which has gutted the Bill of Rights and destroyed our civil liberties, the Military Commissions Act and the Protect America Act which, among other atrocious provisions, has suspended the right of habeas corpus. I am the only candidate demanding the discontinuation of corporate welfare and the end of corporate personhood and the only candidate who agrees with the rest of the industrialized world that education and health care should be rights protected by government.
18,000 Americans died last year because they had no health care at all -- that's six 9/11s. We must have universal single-payer healthcare; it is not at all difficult. The Democrats’ plan is a nightmare for the voter but a dream-come-true for the HMOs. They want to keep the profit in healthcare and force everyone to buy it! Under the Democrat’s corporate scheme those who cannot afford health care insurance will receive it courtesy of you and me -- the taxpayers -- as the HMOs and insurance companies laugh all the way to the bank.
I am the only candidate who insists that every American has the right to receive a complete education from day care through university, the only candidate with the courage and competence to do what is necessary to pay down our $9 trillion national debt and the only candidate to call for the elimination of the federal income tax for every American making less than $100,000 per year.
The Republican and Democrat Parties lack any clear vision for America. They are the guardians of the status quo. They have no leadership and they inspire no hope for the future. They have given us a view of the world that is obscured with war, poverty, ignorance, fear and violence.
I have a new vision for America. I see an America that leads the world in spreading peace instead of violence; hope instead of fear; sustainability instead of disaster; freedom instead of authoritarianism. I see an America in which every person, regardless of their race, creed, color, age, or sexual orientation is valued and lives in dignity, and every person is free to reach his or her full potential. I hope that by November 2008 you will share that vision with me and see that there is a home for that vision in the ballot booth in the column marked "John Murphy".
Voting for the Democrats and Republicans is as addictive as cigarettes and just as deadly. I hope that 2008 is the year you break your political addiction to the deadly duopoly. Keep in mind that in 2008 you will not be stuck with choosing the party of bad ideas and the party of no ideas. In 2008 you will have a real choice. I hope you will give me your support because you will never get what you want by voting for what you don't want.

In 2004 the same four financial firms – Citicorp, Goldman Sachs, UBS AG, and Morgan Stanley – were among the top 10 donors to Bush and Kerry. These corporate contributions render any supposed differences between the two factions of the Corporate Party irrelevant.

Corporate-Free Candidate
