INDEPENDENT CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE JOHN MURPHY TO TESTIFY AGAINST LNG PIPELINE

THE US REACHED "PEAK OIL" IN 1973 AND BECAME DEPENDENT ON FOREIGN OIL – THE US HAS NOW REACHED "PEAK GAS" AND CORPORATE OWNED POLITICIANS DEMAND WE NOW BECOME DEPENDENT ON FOREIGN GAS

EAST FALLOWFIELD, PA – On Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. the independent congressional candidate, John Murphy will testify at a public meeting to be held at Octorara High School Auditorium in Atglen, Pennsylvania. John Murphy will make the case against laying LNG pipeline in Pennsylvania.

According to Murphy "laying this pipeline is no more than sticking a needle in the arm of the American body politic in an effort to continue addicting our nation to foreign energy supplies. We reached "peak oil" in 1973 and then became dependent on foreign sources of oil instead of following a policy of energy independence through the development of renewable energy sources. The United States is capable of meeting all of its power needs with renewable energy and supporting a significant portion of our transportation needs at the same time without drilling up our National Parks and coastline, without nukes or LNG pipelines and plants blowing up all over the country" continued Murphy.

"Our nation is now embroiled in wars for oil. We must not allow corporate politicians to have us become dependent on foreign sources of natural gas so that we will be fighting wars for natural gas 10 years from now.

"From 1988 through 2007 there were 5,894 explosions or "accidents" killing 419 Americans injuring another 1,766 and costing $3,882,552,581 in property damage. There is no such thing as an environmentally safe Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) pipeline" continued Murphy.

"These corporate politicians who took $17,495,044 in campaign contributions from LNG corporations since 2001 want to have high pressure, LNG pipelines running from off shore platforms along the ocean floor through our beaches and onto our shores. We are talking about industrial-sized, hazardous pipelines, 36 inch diameter and larger pipelines running through our residential neighborhoods, near our schools, homes and farmland. These gas pipelines hold more than one thousand times the pressure of residential gas pipelines.

"If a small residential 3/4 inch diameter gas pipeline broke" explained John Murphy, the independent candidate for House of Representatives in the 16th Congressional District of Pennsylvania, "the emergency teams would evacuate an entire block. Can you imagine the mayhem when a huge pipeline with more than one thousand times the pressure breaks? Evacuate? Yeah sure! The corporate owned politicians have shown over and over that they put the interests of the corporation before the interests of the people. The LNG industry spent $112 million in lobbying money to get the Congress on their side. It is time to tell these corporate congressmen just where they can lay that pipeline".

 Thank you, John Murphy
